Sound design is hard to represent out of context. What follows is a series of excepts from various designs that showcase some of my work. These are best listened to in headphones, with both ears so any spatial elements are perceived.

An opportunity to relax and be guided through some light stretching and meditation while immersed in an original soundscape composed for MOTHER CLOUD Spatial Sound Festival.
This piece activates Lobe’s vibrational floor and spatial sound system for the purpose of sustaining an opportunity for deep, therapeutic release. Kate De Lorme facilitates live using a combination of yin yoga, gentle movement, meditation, and Reiki, while participants go on a sound journey across dimensional plains, before being returned safely to the ground and into their bodies.
Sta/g-mos
Kate De Lorme
August 2018
**This is a binaural recording of the work originally composed in 4DSOUND. Some artifacts are present.
Sta/g-mos is an accumulation of research done by Sound Artist Kate De Lorme during her two months as an Artist in Residence at the Spatial Sound Institute in Budapest, Hungary.
An exploration in aligning physical and metaphysical bodies, this work looks to explore sound’s fundamental connection to the body. The artist’s interest was piqued through researching the ancient practice of resonant sound healing, and how it has resurfaced throughout history in many different and globally diverse forms. It is theorized that one can align specific frequencies to resonate with the body’s energy centres, which each have their own emotional and physical attributes. It is this theory that propelled Kate’s research with spatial sound and it’s ability to connect deeper with the listener.
Using the 4DSOUND spatial sound system, surrealistic soundscapes and harmonizing frequencies work with the listener’s body to manifest tactile sound. Sta/g-mos is a guided meditation and immersive four dimensional audio journey.

As we walk the grounds of Caravan Farm Theatre in Armstrong BC, we hear a series of stories inspired by the land. At this point in the story, we are wandering down a dusty road spelled by hoof prints.

A smorgasbord of audiovignettes skipping through time in the north Okanagan where old wagons’ sleepytime overlooks goldengrey moodycirrus hovering above rings of metallic greenbrown where broken old workhorses unbreak themselves and then disorderly resettle along a fingerpaint arrangement of trippytrail adventurous adventure alongside fir pine goodness just as thunderous tenderous tenuous constellations astrolations shower down on a rumbletumble dustyrusty trail in four auspicious movements.
